Departmental Chaplain

The chaplain is the first chaplain that meets the needs of the staff and the victims of crimes. This program is a top priority for Sheriff Johnson. The Sheriff knows first hand the importance of strong faith in this line of work.

Buster WilsonBuster Wilson is originally from Rankin County, MS. He has been in the ministry, both pastorates and evangelism/chaplain work since 1972.

He works full time as a news analyst and voice talent on the national radio/TV network, American Family Radio. He has an honorary doctorate for his work as a "cross walking" evangelist in 2000, and an earned Doctorate of Ministry fro Lake Charles Bible College and Seminary. He is married to the former pat Robertson of Myrtle, MS and they have two grown daughters, Whitney Blomberg and Amberly Collins.

While pastor of a church in Laurel, MS. he and others started the Laurel police Department Chaplain Corp. and the MS Association of Law enforcements Chaplains.

Chaplain Wilson graduated from the Texas State police Academy and then went to work for the Arlington, TX Police Department. He later completed the MS Law Enforcement Officer''s Training Academy in Pearl, and has worked with or assisted several departments around the state.

Dr. Wilson has had a good bit of training in law enforcement chaplaincy and will be working with the department to develop and implement a ministry that the community will be proud of.
